From the Pastor's Study
April 2006

What do you have your focus on? Is it the multitudes of worldly possessions that you can possess? Perhaps it is that brand new vehicle fresh off the assembly line. Maybe it is the latest innovation to be marketed. Quite possibly, you may be chasing after the changing fashions of this world. Some have their eyes fixed solely on earthly pleasures. Often times we find ourselves living our lives seeking only to please ourselves. Where are your eyes today?

Hebrews 12:1-2 states we are to ‘lay aside every weight and the sin which doth so easily beset us.’ We are to ‘run with patience the race that is set before us.’ But notice verse two. While we are running that race, there is something we need to be doing. This is where our focus ought to be. We need to be ‘looking unto Jesus.’

That is where our attention ought to be drawn. That is where our focus should be. How often do we lose sight of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ? Many times our attention is everywhere but where it should be.

Every Sunday morning in April we are going to regain our focus. We are going to get a fresh glimpse of Jesus. Will you look today? See Him rejected, on trial, hanging on the cross for you. Look and see an empty tomb and see the Living Saviour. Set your affections on things above, and see Jesus on the right hand of God. Look and see the Lord coming back in all glory and power.

As we come Sunday mornings in April, let us get a fresh glimpse of Jesus. Let us regain our focus. Let us set our sights and our attention where it ought to be.
